HTML to PDF or Image - oDesk

Our web application (asp.net 3.5) generates invoices and receipts that have to meet regulatory requirements.

Until now, these documents were presented as html pages and the users would print them and send the printout to their customers.



Users are now asking to have it sent over email to their customers by a click of a button.

So we need to create a non editable version of the document and send it over email.

I think this implies a pdf or an image file. Any other ideas are welcome.



I should mention that the service is multi-lingual, and should therefore also support right to left.

The document is created on the server using 3 "asp:Table" controls that are dynamically populated while the document is created.



We'd like not to have to rewrite and have to maintain in parallel both the HTML version and the file version, so we are looking for a way to convert the html to a pdf or an image.

If that cannot be done then having 2 versions is better than not having a solution.



There is a free package called iText http://itextpdf.com/index.php that is supposed to allow pdf creation from HTML.

I don't know if that would work.
