Senior Perl Developer - oDesk

Job Description

The group is seeking a dynamic, talented and experienced Perl programming consultant to work on network monitoring and reporting projects. The successful candidate must possess Perl programming knowledge and experience to develop, enhance and maintain the utilities written in Perl to monitor our key networking components.



Qualifications:

- Education: BS/MS (CS/EE preferred)

- 3+ years Perl development experience (including object oriented Perl, module design, Perl XS, and DBI). Experience with Python or other high-level languages is a plus

- Experience with data and information mining

- Strong UNIX knowledge and experience

- Knowledge of routing and switching concepts and technology is a plus

- Knowledge of IOS and JunOS is a plus

- Strong sense of organization and attention to detail

- Self starter, independent worker and enthusiastic team player

- Excellent multi-tasking and time management skills

- Responsible, reliable and flexible

- Professional and ethical conduct



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



- Design, develop and manage utilities to manage, provision and monitor network elements in a highly sophisticated network

- Manage and prioritize a queue of enhancement requests and bug fixes for the programming utilities

- Work closely with network operations and other programming teams to understand the requirements, analyze and leverage the existing code
