Senior Postgresql Administrator - oDesk

As for a new installed Postgresql on a Virtual Machine with 8 shared CPUs and 2048M of memory, we would like to have an optimized configuration for web applications. The VM is dedicated to the DB, full resources can be used for it. One of this web application is heavy writing time to time (25 000 html content inserts or 25 000 check and then create records at once, then deleted). Other applications mainly read from DB.



BD size: < 100Mo but is growing up with several applications, one saving monitoring stats every 10 minutes

Table number < 150

DB number < 10

Max number of record: 2 000 000, monitoring application will grow up

Max connections: 10 applications with pool of 10 connections





This job consist of:

- check installation

- configuration optimization (configuration should be documented)

- kernel configuration if needed



As a test for this job, please advice about shared_buffers value to be optimized for this system and inform about the time or fix price required for this job.
